Story #5 - Samara at home with her brother, Ethan - Eastern time: 3:32 pm
The time now is 3:32 pm, and Samara is at home doing her homework. She has a Math quiz tomorrow morning in Ms. Rodriguez's class. "Ethan, do you understand this word problem?" She was studying division and word problems in class today. The word problems were giving Samara a little trouble now, so she asked her brother, Ethan, to help out because he was a big kid in the 6th grade now. Ethan was very smart with Math problems and Samara was very smart with English and Geography. Ask her any question about the English language or about the location of a state on the United States map and she could point it out for you. Math was a little more challenging for her. "Ethan, do you hear me?" she asked again. "Yeah, what, doodle face!?" he said while looking away briefly from his video game. "Please look at this word problem for me, and see if you can explain it to me." Ethan looked at the word problem and started to break it down simply and explain it to her. Before he could finish his explanation, their mother came home from work, "I am home my babies!" she shouted as she walked through the door. "Mommy!" Samara jumped to her feet and ran to give her mother a hug. "I am so glad you're home, did you bring me some good treats from the store?" Samara helped her mother with the grocery bags she had in her arms. Ethan was also helping but he was now nibbling on a few cookies that their mom bought at the store. "Ethan, do not eat too many of those cookies before dinner or you will lose your appetite!" their mother said. "I will start to cook dinner now, so that it will be ready when your dad comes home later." Samara took an apple and returned to finish her homework with Ethan helping while their mother cooked dinner.
